My husband suggested renting a car, but I'm not sure about pickup downtown, and I'm not crazy at the thought of driving in an unfamiliar city (we're from Minneapolis, so we can navigate a freeway system and traffic).
I know there are some suburban buses, too, but somehow that seems even more risky. A *lot* depends on getting cabs at the right place at the right time, which sounds dicey in the suburbs.
Take the train or the downtown hotel shuttle to O'Hare and then take a cab from there to Lego, Lego to Medieval, Medieval to O'Hare, and the train or shuttle back to downtown. I know it's an hour+ taxi ride to get there, and then there's the moving about from Lego to Medieval. I'm really interested in taking a day's schlep to Schaumburg to spend the afternoon at Legoland Discovery Center and have dinner and a show at the Medieval Times. We've been a few times before and have visited several of the museums, so I'm looking for some new fun activities for the family. My husband, 6.5 year old son and I will be staying at the Omni this Wed-Sun.
